For their last creation “Eskiyeni”, the choreographic duo of 14 years Taldans started to work with memory.
Not “on” or “about” memory but by using memory as a tool of new exploration, a mean that allows to revisit a past, a subjective as well as a collective history. Rather than using the traditional chronology and canonic History, rather than accepting passively its authority in defining past and present as well as their correlation, interactions, even their production of future, Taldans decides to “act” the past. To take it as a living material on what one can work, explore and explore again by trusting the emotional more than the rational path as well as by following the sensitive crossing of temporalities that “makes” memory.
Thus, the “before” is reincorporating in the now and create on stage presences complex and dense: “temporal presences” that all of us, performers as well as spectators, are.
For each and for all, today is always a “new yesterday”: ESKIYENI
